Brad Kerwin, Ed.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kerwin is an educator and consultant who has worked at Punahou School and over 50 other schools, colleges, and businesses in Hawaii over the past 40 years. He arrived here in the islands from UCLA in 1972, and began developing and directing educational programs starting in 1975, working in areas such as School Accreditation, Staff Development, Test Preparation, General Tutoring, Speed Reading, Parent Workshops, and more. An award winning student and instructor at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and an administrator, teacher, and consultant at Punahou School for over twenty years, Dr. Kerwin and his team at The Reading Company bring their considerable talent and background to schools, institutions, families, and businesses as teachers, tutors, program developers, and consultants, for students from Kindergarten through Medical School.
Adrian Kerwin
Director, Advisor
Adrian Kerwin has nearly 20 years of experience working in education: tutoring, teaching, assisting in special education classrooms, coaching, college counseling, collaborating on administrative teams, giving test preparation workshops, and as facilitator and presenter for groups and organizations. Adrian has also presented to families and nonprofits that work with students with learning differences on best practices and learning outcomes; the college coaching and executive coaching curriculum at The Reading Company was created by Adrian. He has taught English as a second language in Japan, worked extensively in the Clarence T.C. Ching PUEO Program at Punahou School, and participates in and has worked for multiple community and non-profit organizations. Adrian believes in equal access of opportunity and education for all children and will continue to pursue all avenues of guiding families to finding and utilizing support for their children. Adrian received his MBA from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and currently works with The Reading Company in an advisory position and on an ad hoc basis.
Cari Knowles
Chief Operating Officer
Cari began aiding Dr. Kerwin and The Reading Company as an Administrative Assistant in 2016. Since completing her BAs in Psychology and German Language at UH Mānoa, she has come to focus exclusively on growing TRC's reach and accessibility for all families. She loves being around the positivity and joy that our students bring to the office. Cari hopes to pursue an MA in Public Health and is passionate about improving Hawaii’s resources for comprehensive family planning. In her free time, she enjoys playing the flute and practicing her German.
